All BAR Licensed SMOG Check Repair Technicians need to have completed a minimum of 16 hours of BAR approved training every two years prior to renewing their license. The four-hour online BAR Inspector Update Training counts towards this 16-hour requirement. Therefore, most SMOG Check Repair Technicians need at least 12 hours of additional BAR approved update training in order to renew their license. AMT 101 provides a 16-hour BAR Approved update course, so it will meet the update training requirements for SMOG Repair Technicians, regardless of SMOG Check Inspector licensure.
Please contact Automotive Department Chair Brian Noel at NoelB@crc.losrios.edu or (916) 691-7287 with any questions.
