Did you know the college has a Student Equity Plan? In fact, every California Community College in the system has one, and they update it at least every three years. What is it? It's a college plan that outlines how the college intends to close equity gaps to support the success of all of its students. What are equity gaps? When we look at success outcomes, we also look to see are any student demographic groups whose outcomes are lower than that of the overall college.
Since April 2025, the college formed a team of faculty, staff, and administrators to review the data, and determine strategies not only close equity gaps but support all students. These metrics/outcomes focus on five core areas: 1) Successful enrollment (enrolling after applying); 2) completing transfer-level math and English in the first-year at CRC; 3) Persistence (enrolling from one semester to the next, fall-to-spring or spring-to-fall); 4) Completion of a degree/certificate; and, 5) transferring to a four-year.
How can you participate? Come to the Library, L-106, at the Center for Inclusion and Belonging on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. There, we'll host a discussion about what you, the students of CRC, think would help improve outcomes for students based on these metrics. We'll use your feedback to inform the final plan that the college will submit to the Chancellor's Office, due by November 30, 2025.
We hope you'll join us and be part of the planning process!
