There are two WiFi networks supported at Cosumnes River College and its centers: Los Rios Student-Employee and Los Rios Visitor.
- Los Rios Student-Employee is used for student and employee internet access.
- Los Rios Visitor is used by guests and visitors who are invited to the campus. A guest access account must be requested by a Los Rios employee.
Connecting to WiFi – Students and Employees
Connecting With Apple and Windows Devices
- Go to Settings and select Wi-Fi.
- Select the Los Rios Student-Employee network, and then select Connect.
- Enter your W+ID and Los Rios password (for example, W1234567 and Password123).
- After entering your information, you should be connected to campus WiFi.
Connecting With Chromebooks
- Go to Settings and select Wi-Fi.
- Select the Los Rios Student-Employee network, and then select Connect.
- Under EAP Method, select PEAP.
- Under Phase 2 Authentication, select Automatic or MSCHAPV2.
- Under Server CA Certificate, select Do Not Check or Do Not Validate.
- If User Certificate is listed, select None installed.
- Enter your W+ID into Identity and your Los Rios password into Password (for example, W1234567 and Password123).
- After entering your information, you should be connected to campus WiFi.
Connecting With Android Devices
- Go to Settings and select Wi-Fi or Internet.
- Select the Los Rios Student-Employee network, and then select Connect.
- Under EAP Method, select PEAP.
- Under Phase 2 Authentication, select MSCHAPV2.
- Under CA Certificate, select Use System Certificate.
- Under Online Certificate, select Don't Validate or Do Not Verify.
- Under Domain, enter radius.losrios.edu.
- Under Identity, enter your W+ID (for example, W1234567).
- Under Anonymous Identity, leave field blank and delete any text that is pre-filled.
- Under Password, enter your Los Rios password.
- After entering your information, you should be connected to campus WiFi.
Connecting to WiFi – Guests and Visitors
Note: Guests and visitors are individuals who have been invited to campus and have a guest access account provided by a Los Rios employee.
- Make sure your WiFi is turned on.
- Make sure you are connected to the Los Rios Visitor network.
- Launch your internet browser.
- You will be redirected to a login page to enter the username and password provided to you by a Los Rios employee.
Troubleshooting
Students and Employees

- Make sure you are connected to the Los Rios Student-Employee network and not Los Rios Visitor or any other network.
- Make sure you enter your username and password correctly (include the W in your ID, don't include extra spaces, and so on).
- Turn your WiFi connection off and then back on to reset your wireless connection, then try connecting again.
- Go to Known Networks and forget both the Los Rios Student-Employee and Los Rios Visitor networks, if available, then try connecting again.
- Reset your Los Rios password.
- Install any available operating system updates.
- Check that the date and time are set correctly on your device.
- Restart your device.
Guests and Visitors
- Make sure your WiFi is turned on.
- Make sure you are connected to the Los Rios Visitor network and not Los Rios Student-Employee or any other network.
- Make sure you enter your provided username and password correctly.
- Turn your WiFi connection off and then back on to reset your wireless connection, then try connecting again.
- Go to Known Networks and forget both the Los Rios Student-Employee and Los Rios Visitor networks, if available, then try connecting again.
- Install any available operating system updates.
- Check that the date and time are set correctly on your device.
- Restart your device.

Where can I access the wireless network?
You can access the Los Rios Student-Employee WiFi network from most indoor locations on each of our campuses. Select locations also offer outdoor coverage.
Is WiFi free?
Yes, there is no charge to use the Los Rios Student-Employee network.
Do I have to be a student to use the Los Rios Student-Employee WiFi network?
Yes, you must have a valid student or employee Los Rios account to use the Los Rios Student-Employee WiFi network.
May I privately conduct financial or personal business over the wireless network?
The Los Rios Student-Employee WiFi network uses security measures to help protect user traffic; however, no wireless network can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If you choose to conduct financial, banking, or other sensitive transactions, you do so at your own discretion. Users should ensure the website uses secure, encrypted connections (such as HTTPS). The district is not responsible for any loss, liability, or damages resulting from the use of its WiFi networks.
Will an employee help me set up WiFi on my personal laptop or other devices?
Though we provide wireless access free of charge, users are responsible for connecting their device to the wireless network and maintaining the security of their device with operating system updates, security patches, and anti-virus software.
Los Rios employees are unable to provide detailed configuration or troubleshooting support for personally owned devices.
Can I access everything on the wireless connection that I can normally access with a wired public connection?
The Los Rios Student-Employee WiFi network provides access to the internet and most web-based systems in the Los Rios network. Access to internal Los Rios network resources such as file servers and printers is not available on this network and requires approved VPN access.
