Cosumnes River College's (CRC) Department of Nutrition and Foods offers an associate's degree program that is challenging, accessible, and rewarding. The program provides opportunities to master the knowledge and skills required for transfer to a didactic program in dietetics or a four-year degree in nutrition and foods.
All our NUTRI courses for the A.S., A.S.-T and Community Nutrition Certificate are available exclusively online (that means everything is done online). Students talk to each other and professors via email and the Online Learning System. NUTRI 300 is also taught in the traditional, face-to-face classroom environment.
The Plant-Based Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture courses are only available in the traditional face-to-face classroom environment.
We recommend students have a good grasp of the English language, so that they will be able to complete textbook readings, interpret research articles and write research papers (in NUTRI 340) as well as compositions in online discussions. We recommend that students have basic math skills as they will need to calculate ratios and percentages, perform unit conversions, and costs estimates. Students should be comfortable with computers in order to use email, diet analysis software, word processing software and the Internet.
