Dual Enrollment and Pre-College Advancement

Paving the way from high school to higher education.

Home Admissions Dual Enrollment and Pre-College Advancement

Our Dual Enrollment and Pre-College Advancement Program allows students to take college courses at their high school and simultaneously earn college and high school credit. Dual enrollment courses are offered at no cost to students.

Our vision is to equitize students' access to and success in higher education – especially those from historically underserved populations in the greater Sacramento region – by providing clear and attainable pathways into Los Rios and beyond.

General Education vs. Career Education Dual Enrollment

There are two types of dual enrollment: Career Education (CE) Dual Enrollment and General Education (GE) Dual Enrollment. CE Dual Enrollment differs from GE Dual Enrollment in a few important ways:

  1. CE Dual Enrollment courses are funded by the Strong Workforce grant.
  2. Students enrolled in CE Dual Enrollment courses are on a pathway to complete two or more courses in one CE subject, leading to a certificate.
  3. CE Dual Enrollment courses traditionally have slightly smaller class sizes.
  4. Because of the smaller class sizes and the limited number of sections offered, students have an outreach success team that monitors CE Dual Enrollment students' progress.
