CRC Hawk Talk Alumni Newsletter – March 2025

Welcome from Collin Pregliasco, Dean of Kinesiology, Health, and Athletics, and CRC Athletic Director

It is my pleasure to welcome you to this edition of Hawk Talk. As Dean of Kinesiology, Health, and Athletics, and Athletic Director at Cosumnes River College, I am excited to share the tremendous success we've seen athletically and academically—unprecedented since our founding in 1970.
On the athletic front, CRC has continued its success since last year, when 7 of our 8 teams qualified for the playoffs, with Women’s Soccer and Softball reaching the 3C2A State Championships. This year, we’ve kept the momentum going, with all 5 of our fall team sports again qualifying for playoffs. Women’s Volleyball, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Basketball made it to the 2nd round, while Men’s Basketball advanced to the 3rd round, with a chance to make it to the 3C2A State Championships.
Even more impressive is the continued academic excellence of our student-athletes. For the 10th consecutive semester, CRC student-athletes have maintained a GPA above 3.0, shining as some of the brightest in the state in both academics and athletics. The overall GPA for our student-athletes in the fall 2024 semester was an impressive 3.327, with athletes averaging 16.04 units. In addition to their success in athletics and academics, our Athletic Department has been very active on campus and in the community, hosting important events and supporting great causes.
These recent accomplishments build upon the strong foundation laid by our dedicated coaches and student-athletes who have come before us. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge our alumni who have represented Cosumnes River College with pride and commitment. Whether you were part of our current programs—volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, beach volleyball, or swimming—or earlier teams such as football, water polo, track and field, gymnastics, tennis, or wrestling, your hard work, accomplishments, and dedication have helped create the unique culture and family atmosphere that make our Athletic Department so special.
Thank you for your continued support, and for being an integral part of our Hawks legacy. Go Hawks!

Introducing...The CRC Athletics Wall of Recognition!

We’re thrilled to announce the creation of the Wall of Recognition—a custom-designed installation that will showcase every individual achievement from the past 54 years. This dedicated space will not only preserve the legacy of our athletes but also provide the flexibility to honor new awards, rename existing ones, and celebrate those that have been retired. Located prominently in the gym lobby, the Wall of Recognition will ensure that the extraordinary accomplishments of CRC athletes remain visible and celebrated for years to come.
To make this vision a reality, we need your support. Please consider making a contribution to support this exciting project. As a token of our appreciation, all donors will receive an invitation to the unveiling event. Your gift will help honor the legacy of CRC Athletics and inspire future generations of student-athletes.
Yes! I want to help build the Wall of Recognition!

Gowns for Grads 2025 - Help Our Hawks Dress for the Occasion!

As we prepare to celebrate our graduating students at this year's commencement ceremony, we're also mindful that some students may face financial challenges that may prevent them from participating in this important milestone. We recognize that obtaining a graduation gown can be a barrier for some. With your generous contributions, we can provide gowns to students in need, ensuring every CRC graduate, regardless of their financial circumstance, has the opportunity to join in this significant occasion and be celebrated for all their hard work and dedication.
