Home Admissions Placement Math Placement for STEM

Beginning in fall 2022, Cosumnes River College removed the majority of below-transfer MATH courses (that is, courses with a course number below 300). The default MATH placement for all incoming students will be a college-level MATH course.

A Note About Your Placement Info

Beginning summer 2025, students with STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) may receive the following math placements in their eServices account:

  • MATH 372, MATH 373, MATHS 3375, MATH 384, MATH 355, MATH 400

Do not enroll in all of the courses listed above. Only enroll in the math course(s) needed for your academic goal. If you met with a counselor and have a Student Education Plan, please follow your Student Education Plan. If you do not have a Student Education Plan, please follow your CAC Education Plan or Program Map to determine the recommended math for your major.

Students must have graduated from a US school within the last ten years and included high school grade and math course information on the CCCApply application.

If you do not see placements in your eServices account, please email the Placement Office at CRC-Placement@crc.losrios.edu.

STEM Placement Based on High School Math

The following placement table displays the measures that are used to determine a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) student's initial math placement. The highest math course completed in high school is the specific measure that determines math placement.

Students who did not complete high school or who have been out of high school for ten years or more should use the Guided Self-Placement tool.
