Home Academics HIT Department HIT Accreditation

The Health Information Technology (HIT) program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Graduates of a CAHIIM accredited program are qualified to sit for the national board examination to become Registered Health Information Technicians (RHITs). Our curriculum is designed to meet the standards and competencies set forth by CAHIIM and to best prepare graduates to work in acute-care hospitals, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and governmental and private agencies.

The college’s accreditation for associate degree in Health Information Technology has been reaffirmed through 2022. All inquiries about the program’s accreditation status should be directed to:

We are proud of our accreditation through CAHIIM and strive to meet and exceed our accreditation requirements established by their arduous curriculum and program assessments. Because of accreditation and the industry’s need for knowledgeable and professionally educated individuals we utilize our program accreditation to ensure that curriculum content, information, projects, and tasks are constantly scrutinized to maintain the level of education necessary for students that progress through our program to advance in the HIM field.

Additionally, students benefit from our accreditation with CAHIIM by the opportunity to sit for the Registered Health Information Technicians (RHIT) exam offered through the American Health Information Association (AHIMA). This credential is recognized nationally. Individuals with this credential can obtain jobs that support a growing and specific field in healthcare.
