Meet the HIT Team

The CRC HIT program is completely online with an in-person practicum, which means you may never meet your professor or support group in person. That doesn’t mean we are not accessible to you. We enjoy learning more about you and work to provide you with the resources and support that you need.

Hello future HIT Students! My name is Kristen, I’m our program coordinator and one of your HIT professors. Like most of you, I’ve got a whole life outside of the classroom that I enjoy and try to balance. My favorite people in the whole world are my family. I have three kids and a husband and they are the most exciting and exhausting parts of my life. I strive to build a community for our students who come through our program. My favorite quote by Deanna Wadsworth is, “Four things you can’t recover, the stone after the throw, the word after it’s said, the occasion after it’s missed, and the time after it’s gone.” My favorite part about teaching is the connection. We may be remote, but we can always have a connection. And lastly, my favorite thing about having new students look at our program is the vision of what good they can do to impact the healthcare profession. Everyone brings with them the possibility for great things! I want to help you discover and develop yours in HIT!

Sharon Stith, MA, RHIA, CPC

Hello! My name is Sharon Stith, and I am one of your HIT instructors. I have a true passion for teaching, and I hope it shows. Because I love the HIM field, teaching in this program is a dream come true. I have worked in the field for forty years because it is versatile, rewarding, challenging, and ever-changing. My hope for you is that you experience this as well.

My goal is to get to know you during our time together and maintain those connections as you transition into the field as practitioners. On a personal note, I love science fiction and am a huge Marvel fan. I recently discovered Doctor Who and was able to spend a little time recently watching some of the classic episodes. A favorite quote of mine is from Proverbs. It says, “Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up”. I strive to be an encourager. I can’t wait to meet you!

Professor Hernandez teaches courses as needed in the HIT program. Students may get the honor of having her instruction during their HIT or coding certificate training and education.

At CRC, our goal is your success and as we know it takes a team to make sure we meet your needs. While the school provides numerous support services for our students, the table below identifies all the members of your HIT Support Team. The team guides students to advance through the HIT program in a timely and efficient manner. We pride ourselves in looking at students as individuals and that requires each student to have a team alongside them that can assist them through their unique educational path.
