The CRC HIT program is completely online with an in-person practicum, which means you may never meet your professor or support group in person. That doesn’t mean we are not accessible to you. We enjoy learning more about you and work to provide you with the resources and support that you need.

Hello future HIT Students! My name is Kristen, I’m our program coordinator and one of your HIT professors. Like most of you, I’ve got a whole life outside of the classroom that I enjoy and try to balance. My favorite people in the whole world are my family. I have three kids and a husband and they are the most exciting and exhausting parts of my life. I strive to build a community for our students who come through our program. My favorite quote by Deanna Wadsworth is, “Four things you can’t recover, the stone after the throw, the word after it’s said, the occasion after it’s missed, and the time after it’s gone.” My favorite part about teaching is the connection. We may be remote, but we can always have a connection. And lastly, my favorite thing about having new students look at our program is the vision of what good they can do to impact the healthcare profession. Everyone brings with them the possibility for great things! I want to help you discover and develop yours in HIT!

Natasha C. Miller

Hello, I’m Natasha C. Miller, one of your Health Information Technology (HIT) Professors. I am an author, speaker, and Health Information Consultant. I am thrilled to embark on this journey with you at Cosumnes River College (CRC), the same place where my own academic path began.

Initially, I pursued prerequisites to become a Registered Nurse, volunteering at South Sacramento Kaiser in Labor and Delivery and becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant and Certified Home Health Aide. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for the business side of healthcare, which led me to this rewarding field.

Outside the classroom, I am a proud wife, mother of five, and grandmother. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy family trips, community service, and indulging in spa days for self-care.

This field offers countless opportunities, and my goal is to help you develop as an HIT professional while building meaningful connections throughout the program. Teaching is my passion, and nothing brings me greater joy than celebrating students' success, especially when they achieve their national credentials or certifications.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your path to success!
