Orientation
Welcome to CRC! Let's Get You Ready for Classes.
Participating in Orientation is your best first step to getting registered and set up for success at Cosumnes River College. While attending Orientation is not required to register for classes at CRC, completing it is highly recommended and following these steps will make choosing and enrolling in your classes quick and easy!
Important Requirements Before Orientation
Prior to attending a New Student Orientation, you must have:
- Completed your CRC Application. If you have not completed your Cosumnes River College application, please view the application resources available on the Outreach Application Tips and Resources webpage or attend a workshop.
- Received your student ID number.
- Didn't Receive Your Los Rios ID? Check your email inbox and junk/spam folder for an email from LRCCD containing your Los Rios student ID number. If you cannot find the email, use the Student ID Lookup form.
- If you need additional assistance, complete the CRC's Student ID Help form.
- Created a Los Rios Password (see Password Management).
Complete the Two-Step Process for Enrollment Support:
Step 1: Get Your List of Recommended Courses
Complete the Career and Academic Community (CAC) List of Recommended Courses Form to receive a class list tailored to your major.
- Who is this for? Recommended for new students who don't have a course plan yet or haven't met with a counselor. For more information on the CAC form, check out our Orientation FAQs.
- Fast Delivery: You will receive your personalized list via email within two minutes of submitting the form. (Covers first- and second-semester recommendations.)
- Undecided Major? Select None of the above under the Career and Academic Communities list on the form to reveal the Undecided (STEM or Non-STEM) options, and our Success Coaches will help you explore your path!
Step 2: Choose the Orientation and Enrollment Support that Works Best for You
Live Workshop Availability: Unfortunately, live orientation workshops for Fall 2026 are full, but you can still enroll in Fall classes!
Note: Registration for Spring 2027 Live Orientation Workshops will open in October 2026.
Option 1: Complete Orientation Online
- You may request a 40-minute pre-recorded video orientation. You'll learn how to navigate your classes, log in to eServices (where you register and pay for classes) and Canvas (where you do your coursework).
Once you request the video, a link to the video will be sent immediately to your email.
Option 2: Get Direct Enrollment Support
Need in-person one-on-one support and guidance?
- Talk to a Success Coach: Connect online with a Success Coach for questions regarding your program and get help adding classes to your shopping cart.
- In-Person Help: Visit the Welcome Center (College Center building) for step-by-step registration support.
For general questions, we’re here to help! Email the CRC Outreach team: crc-outreach@crc.losrios.edu.
Orientation Exceptions: Steps for Students
After you apply, one of your next steps is to attend the New Student Enrollment Orientation! This is where most students will receive their List of Recommended Courses. At CRC, certain exceptions will require students to take additional steps before attending Orientation.
Exceptions include the following:
- New Students with 12 or more college units completed as a Dual Enrollment student: Check in with an Outreach specialist about your next steps.
- ESL students: If you plan on only taking ESL courses, follow the steps on ESL Student Admission and Enrollment Steps.
- DSPS students: Connect with the Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS) office to talk about accommodations and to create your Education Plan prior to signing up for Orientation.
- Veterans and Dependents of Veterans who plan to use their VA benefits: Contact the Veteran Resource Center to review the steps unique to you and to make an appointment to create a “VA Education Planner” prior to signing up for Orientation.
- Returning Students or Transfer Students: If you’re coming from another college, currently enrolled at another college or have units from another college, and you are interested in pursuing a degree at CRC, your transcripts may need to be evaluated. Please see Get Started and Apply for information.
To receive help with selecting courses, please make an appointment with a counselor.
For transcript submission information, see Submit Transcripts and Test Scores.
