It depends! If CRC is your "home campus” where you will be taking the majority of the classes related to your major you should complete the CRC New Student Orientation. This is how you will receive your first semester schedule (CAC List of Recommended Courses).
If you will be taking the majority of your major-related classes at ARC, FLC, or SCC you must review the orientation webpage and information on next steps for that campus:

You will find the Zoom link in the middle of the email, proceeded by the verbiage “Join from PC, Mac, iOS or Android.”

Attending Orientation/Joining a Session
If you try logging in to the session and see the message "Waiting for the host to start the meeting" it means the host (CRC) hasn’t started the Zoom session yet. Hosts typically open the orientation waiting room nine minutes prior to the start of the orientation start time.
The waiting room is a virtual space that students enter before being admitted into the orientation session. If you arrive on time, you will be allowed in.
"Please wait, the meeting host will let you in soon" is the only waiting room message you will see. If you do not see this message, you are not in the CRC Orientation waiting room.
Admittance closes five minutes after the orientation session start time. If you try to join after five minutes, you will not be allowed in the session. You will be invited to sign up for another open orientation session!
No. Students are required to attend orientation and are attesting during the orientation sign-in that they are attending on their own behalf.
No. Zoom links are unique to the individual who signed up and are different for everyone.
Additionally, only students who signed up through the two-step sign-up process should be in the session.
Note: You will also not be sent your CAC List of Recommended Courses unless you complete the two-step sign-up process.
See the section "How to Sign up for a New Student Orientation" on the Orientation page.
Admittance closes five minutes after the orientation session start time. If you try to join after five minutes, you will not be allowed in the session. You will be invited to sign up for another open orientation session!
Be sure that your display name is the name that you used to complete the attendance sheet provided at the beginning of the orientation session.
We will use this sign in sheet to verify your identity while you wait in the waiting room. This may take a few minutes.
Once we verify your identity, you will be admitted.

Denial/No Link Received
Students who are approved will receive the Zoom link the day prior to the event, or the day of the event.
Students who receive a denial will need to review the email sent for next steps.
No. Orientation sign-ups close three business days prior to the orientation date. If you received a denial because you did not complete items (such as the CAC List of Recommended Courses Form), you will need to sign up for another open session after completing the item(s).
The New Student Orientation registration closes three business days prior to the event. There are no exceptions.
Why? Because there is a lot of behind-the-scenes prep done to ensure students get the most out of the session!
We encourage you to sign up for another open session!
Please follow the steps that were provided to you in the email that was sent with your denial.
It was most likely denied because you:
- Have units from another college campus (this does not include students who have units from Dual Enrollment, Advanced Education or Articulated course credit)
- Are a current college student
- Are a transfer student
- Did not complete the CAC List of Recommended Courses Form
- Applied to another LRCCD campus
- Do not have a current CCCApply application on file
CAC List of Recommended Courses
A CAC List of Recommended Courses is a list of classes you should take your first semester based on your major. This list was created and approved by faculty and counselors who are experts in your major. It is also your roadmap to completing your educational goal. Your CAC List of Recommended Courses may only list the courses recommended for your first semester.
Students who complete the “Schedule your Orientation” and “Complete the CAC List of Recommended Courses Form” will be emailed the CAC List of Recommended Courses. This is sent to the email used when they completed the CAC List of Recommended Courses Form on the Orientation page.
As early as 48 hours prior to your session and up to just two hours prior to your orientation session.
Yes! Instructions are provided during orientation.
No. The CAC List of Recommended Courses does not contain specific math and English information relevant to your math and English placement. This is reviewed during orientation.
No. CAC List of Recommended Courses are only sent to students who sign up for an orientation and who are eligible to attend orientation.
No. Due to FERPA laws, we cannot share a student's list of enrolled courses without written approval from the student, even if they are under 18 years old.
Once students apply, their next step is to attend a New Student Virtual Orientation, unless they are part of an ineligible student group (see FAQ answers under “Orientation Sign Up”).
