TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) SOAR & STEM
What is TRIO Student Support Services SOAR (SSS-SOAR) and Student Support Services STEM (SSS-STEM)?
TRIO Student Support Services SOAR (SSS-SOAR) and Student Support Services STEM (SSS-STEM) are free federal programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The programs support eligible CRC students, from traditionally underserved populations, in their academic, social, and professional pursuits.
SSS-SOAR supports CRC students across all majors, while SSS-STEM specifically supports CRC students in the fields of STEM: science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and health sciences. Both programs focus on increasing CRC’s retention, graduation, and transfer rates.
What services are provided?
TRIO SSS-SOAR/SSS-STEM services include:
- Academic advising
- Academic support/tutoring
- College/University campus tours
- Career advising and preparation
- Cultural activities
- College success workshops
- Financial literacy
- Priority registration
- Peer and faculty mentoring
Am I eligible to participate in SOAR?
To be eligible for TRIO SSS-SOAR, you must be enrolled at CRC and also meet one of the following:
- First-generation college student*
*neither parent/legal guardian has earned a bachelor's degree - Meet federal income eligibility
- Documented disability
Additionally, you must have the goals of transferring to a four-year university and/or graduating with an A.A./A.S. degree.
Am I eligible to participate in STEM?
To be eligible for TRIO SSS-STEM, you must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled at CRC
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
And also meet one of the following:
- First-generation college student*
*neither parent/legal guardian has earned a bachelor's degree - Meet federal income eligibility
- Documented disability
Additionally, you must have the goals of transferring to a four-year university and/or graduating with an A.A./A.S. degree.

Interested in applying? Please fill out the application form and a TRIO SSS-SOAR/TRIO SSS-STEM representative will follow-up on your application.
