Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) is a state-funded program that provides students with academic and personal counseling, career planning, peer support and tutoring, workshops, financial aid in child care and transportation, and meal vouchers.

Am I Eligible for CARE?

To be eligible for CARE, you must be:

  • Accepted to the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) program
  • A single head of household receiving CalWORKs/TANF/AFDC
  • A parent of at least one child age 18 years or under (at the time of acceptance into the CARE program)
  • A California resident or eligible for AB 540
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Registered for a minimum of 12 units (unless stated by DSPS) with a vocational or academic objective

You are not eligible if:

  • You are married
  • You only receive CalFresh or medical benefits

Steps to Apply to CARE

  1. New students must apply to the EOPS program uring the open application cycle & Be accepted into the EOPS program for the 2026-2027 academic year. Continuing students must be in good standing and continuing in the EOPS program for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  2. Submit a CARE Program Application by July 26.
  3. Receive a CARE Program Conditional Approval Email.
  4. Submit the CalWORKs Aid Verification Form (when instructed).
  5. Attend a Conditional New CARE Student Orientation (when instructed).
  6. Complete the CARE Canvas Module (after attending in-person orientation).
    • Minimum score required: 90%.
    • Students who do not achieve a 90% score will not be admitted to the CARE Program and may reapply during a future application period.
  7. Receive Official CARE Program Acceptance.
    • Students officially admitted: September 8
